Hello hello! I didn’t get a post up last week and I’m more than ready to start writing more often. I had planned to write lots over winter break, but here I am at the brink of the new semester and I wrote less than I did during the school year. Oh well. Anyways, today I’m linking up with Meg for Week in Review! Diving right on in into the winter break recap…
Went to my favorite coffee shop in Dallas (OR) with a friend. It was afternoon so I opted for an herbal berry tea. HOW can I be a college student and such a caffeine lightweight at the same time?
While at home, I took full advantage of having a Vitamix on hand and drank a ton of smoothies. I also blended collagen into my coffee and learned that if you want cream, add it after blending because our Vitamix starting whipping the cream and it ended up a little clumpy.
I did some brainstorming over break and decided I’d really love to get two posts up a week starting in February. Once a week, I want to do a “deeper” post about intuitive eating/movement/body image/life or a string of thoughts on various topics (like this post, or this one). The other post during the week will probably be something lighter: an eats lately type post, Random Roots, weekend recaps/day in the life, or tips on food and exercise in college. We’ll see how it goes. I have a full plate this semester and I’d really like to get a job on campus and maybe teach a few piano or violin lessons (and, you know, still have time to sleep), but blogging is definitely something that brings me joy, and that’s important too.
I slept in a TON. Let me tell you, I am not a big sleeping in person usually. I don’t think there was a day during the last semester when I slept in past 7:00. Some days I got up early, but others I didn’t eat breakfast until almost noon. Glorious.
When I sleep in that late, hunger and meals can be a little weird, hence a pint of mint chocolate chip Halo Top for lunch one day. Disclaimer: I genuinely like Halo Top BUT it is not a replacement for legit ice cream when you want legit ice cream.
I’m grateful that I was also able to work a good number of hours. For those of you who followed along during the summer, you may remember that my dad (also boss. Aren’t family businesses the best?) draws on paper cups and makes tea/coffee/hot cocoa for us. Here’s a few from over winter break:
As far as food goes, besides the ice cream, collagen coffee, and smoothies, it was lovely to have homemade meals. Finals week ALL I wanted was curry and/or sushi and I got both. Score. I also, of course, enjoyed stovetop oatmeal and loaded salads.
Also had an epic burger, complete with goat cheese, caramelized onions, bacon, and sweet chili sauce + TONS of sweet potato fries.
I used up the last of my face soap while at school and my mom made me two kinds of face wash, two toners, and a few essential oil blends to take back with me. Here, I’m modeling the activated charcoal and clay face wash. 😉
And in preparation for this semester, I finished up my bullet journal and set up my new one (courtesy of my aunt as a Christmas gift. Thanks Aunt Beth!).
Here’s to a new semester! Thanks for following along! Probably, you’ve been back into the swing of things for at least a few weeks now–tell me how it’s going and what your favorite part of break was!
